Tessellation workshop with Yunus Tonkus

The workshop starts with a conducted tour through the Great Palace Mosaic Museum in Istanbul. Our guide will be the sculptor Yunus Tomkus. Following up you will be brought to the Arte Istanbul Gallery where the hands-on work begins. The Arte Istanbul Gallery, also known as Centre for Culture, lies in the picturesque district Beyoglu.

There you will break off tiny pieces from a natural finished, colorful marble plate in order to place them on a chosen theme. Afterwards, the mosaic will be put into a copper mold in order to stabilize it.

As long as everything will be finished in time before your flight takes off, you can take your self-made tessellation home right away. Otherwise it will be sent to you right after the workshop (seinding fees included).

Workshop-Program

Day 1

Morning: meeting and introduction

Afternoon: visit of the Mosaic-Museum and information all about the art of tessellation.

Day 2

Morning 9am-2pm, including a one hour of break: intermediation of the theory and introduction to the practical experience.

Day 3

Morning 9am-2pm, including a one hour break: production of your mosaic.

Day 4

Finishing touch and completion of the mosaic.

Number of participants: minimum 5 persons, maximum 15 persons

Requirements: no experience and skill required, everything will be taught right on the spot.

Conditions: minimum 5 persons: 1500 €, the price will be reduced to 1000 € per person starting with the minimum of 10 participants. Maximum of participants: 15 persons. The participation fee already includes all the required tools.
